Accessibility

Torah belongs to everyone. We want every visitor to be able to watch, read and learn on beorpanecha.org, including people who use assistive technology.

1. Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we test new pages and features with accessibility in mind. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we keep improving the site as we learn.

2. What we’ve built in

• Keyboard navigation. Every link, button, video and form can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline. In the video and PDF viewer, press Escape to close and the arrow keys to move between items.
• Screen readers. Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, images have text alternatives, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
• Readable text. Text meets contrast guidelines against our dark background, and pages scale cleanly when you zoom up to 200%.
• Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animated star field, glows and transitions are turned off.
• Divrei Torah as web pages. Our divrei Torah are available as accessible web articles as well as PDFs.
• Captions. Our videos are hosted on YouTube, where captions are available.

3. Known limitations

• Some older PDFs may not be fully accessible to screen readers. The web-article version of each d’var Torah contains the same text.
• Embedded YouTube videos and third-party sign-up forms are controlled by those providers, and their accessibility may vary.
